Our favourite amongst the Kensington museums, this is a treasure trove of animatronic dinosaurs, stuffed animals, creepy crawlies, and geological phemonena like volcanos. There's lots of interactivity and great special exhibits.
In our opinion, the best bits are:
- The extensive animatroic dinosuar exhibit, and especially the massive T-Rex, which can terrify even 5 and 6 year olds.
- The superb collection of dinosaur skeletons.
- The massive, life size, model of a blue whale.
- The creepy crawlies gallery – hugely interactive and informative, with some great videos
- The (fortunately mild) earthquake simulator and its associated exhibits.
This is a great place to pass a rainy afternoon.
For 7-14 year olds, there’s also a hands-on science centre. Please check the Museum’s website for opening times and access details as its use is reserved for schools during much of term time.
