Hugely impressive moated castle, dating to 1385, with impregnable-looking ramparts that are almost entirely intact. The interior isn't so complete, but enough survives to give you a feel for castle life. Also has great kids events for a big day out.

Wonderful, family-friendly, history-packed, castle, home to Anne Boleyn and later the Astors. Kids love the water maze, hedge maze, adventure playground and big summer events (especially jousting). We always have a great day out when we visit.
